oh we do love to be beside the seaside

One thing we have sorely missed being in the middle of Europe is going to the seaside.  Our favourite place is Weymouth in Dorset (less than an hour away from home on a good day) and it embodies the typical cliché about the English Seaside with buckets and spades, fish and chips shops and beach huts galore and we love that. It is also going to be the venue for the sailing in 2012 when the Olympics are in London.

As you can see we had brilliant sunshine for our day at the beach. (not)

B played chase the seagulls but could not be persuaded to go anywhere near the water ("Scary")

R started to build a sandcastle "aided" by her baby brother

A just wanted to stand in the waves and chill

Incidentally Weymouth is renowned for its very fine sand which makes the best sand scultures. Very good for little feet as it is not too sharp.  Combine it with a shallow bay where you can paddle out to a couple of hundred yards off the beach and still be below your knees and it is easy to see why it is a good place for taking young children.

On the way back home we picked up some draw your own puzzles from Wilkinsons (twin pack for less than a quid -bargain)
